Are meetings a form of waste?
In our last webinar, Andy Carlino spoke about developing an operating system. To see some of our Lean Consortium companies operating systems, and learn how they carry out their system in on-going operations, I thought attending a weekly or monthly staff meeting would be a good idea. I want to find out what they discuss, what they think is important and how it aligns with their stated lean strategy. Well … I was not expecting this response. This is from the first company I asked. “You are welcome to join us anytime. However, staff meetings really do not exist here. We used to do it, but ...
Lean Leadership Event is a Success
[caption id="attachment_403" align="alignleft" width="236" caption="Jamie and Buzz"][/caption] I was very pleased with the 2010 Georgia Tech Lean Leadership Event. Lean Consortium Value
This past week we had the opportunity to visit one of the Georgia Tech Lean Consortium companies in Newnan, Georgia for a benchmarking tour. It was an encouraging and energizing visit for me to see the commitment level, and the energy this company had for its Lean strategy. Their Lean strategy, called "Everest", was presented to us by their Vice President responsible for their global Lean efforts. He had traveled over from Europe to experience the consortium benchmarking process and did an excellent job in presenting their near and long term plans. After the consortium meeting was ...
